Privacy Policy
App name: Puff Gulp
Application ID: com.atthis.pufferfish
Effective date: May 6, 2026
Thank you for using our app. We respect your privacy. This policy explains how “Puff Gulp” handles information and third-party services when you use the app. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.
1. Information we process
- Camera and on-device image analysis: With your permission, the app accesses the device camera and runs face detection on-device (Google ML Kit) solely to derive game control signals (e.g., head pose, mouth movements). We do not upload your camera feed or facial images to our servers for identification or storage.
- Advertising-related data: The app shows Google AdMob ads. The ads SDK may collect and use identifiers (including advertising ID), IP address, coarse location, and app interaction data for ad delivery and measurement, as described in Google’s policies.
- Diagnostics and system data: Like most apps, the operating system or app store may collect crash logs, device model, OS version, and related telemetry for stability and security. Scope is governed by each platform’s policies.
2. Permissions
Camera access is required for face-controlled gameplay. If you deny the permission, that feature will not work. You can change permissions anytime in system settings.
3. Third-party services
- Google ML Kit (Face Detection): Runs on-device. See also Google’s documentation and terms: ML Kit terms.
- Google AdMob: See Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob resources for advertising and personalization controls.
4. Storage and security
We do not operate this app to build biometric profiles on our servers. Any local game data remains on your device and may be removed if you uninstall the app. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure; we use reasonable practices appropriate to the app.
5. Children’s privacy
If you are a minor, please use the app with a parent or guardian’s guidance. If you believe we have inadvertently processed information related to a child, contact us via the developer contact on our Google Play listing and we will respond promptly.
6. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date on this page and, where appropriate, provide notice inside the app.
7. Face data
This section supplements the camera and on-device processing description in Section 1 and addresses face-related data for clarity and platform requirements.
- What we collect: The app does not capture, store, or transmit a separate “face photo” or biometric template to our servers. With your consent, the device camera feed is analyzed on the device in real time using Google ML Kit Face Detection. Processing yields transient signals (for example head orientation, mouth openness, cheek puffing, and blink-related cues) used only to control gameplay.
- Planned uses: Solely to implement optional face-controlled steering and actions in the game. No face analysis is used for advertising targeting, user profiling, authentication, or identification of you outside the app session.
- Third parties, storage, and sharing: ML Kit libraries run locally on your device per Google’s terms; we do not send face images or derived biometric templates to our own backend for storage. AdMob may process device and app interaction data under Google’s policies as described in Section 3; that processing is separate from face-controlled gameplay and is not fed with face-derived signals from this app by design.
- Retention: We do not retain face images or biometric templates on our servers. On-device analysis frames exist only momentarily in memory during play and are not written to app-controlled persistent storage for facial recognition purposes.
Quotable summary: “With your permission, the app accesses the device camera and runs face detection on-device (Google ML Kit) solely to derive game control signals (e.g., head pose, mouth movements). We do not upload your camera feed or facial images to our servers for identification or storage.” (See also Section 1, camera and on-device image analysis.)
